Programs and Involvements

While The Tender Bridge was not formally incorporated until December of 2003, we have been actively involved with the youth in the Patterson Park area since 2001.

Our focus is on individual children who need guidance and support. The approach we use is for a “sports mentor” to become involved in a child’s life through a sport or activity that he or she loves, and to stay involved through connecting them with other sports and activities throughout the year. As the mentor develops a strong friendship and rapport with the parent, the educational advocacy and health advocacy services of The Tender Bridge may also come into play for these children. The sports mentors regularly become involve with the schools and checks on their attendance, academic performance, and behavior.
